Today’s verse is Revelation 22:20-21
He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.
Let’s pray together.
LORD Jesus, we pray to You, the beginning and the end, the One who has no end. We pray to You as the Author and Finisher of our faith. We pray to You as the Son of God, the Light of the World, and the Testifier and Intercessor before the Father.
Jesus, lead us toward You. Lead us toward full lives of grace, lived in honor of You, promoting Your glory. Lead us to the fulfillment of history, the grand finish of our earth, but never the end of Your story. There has been long years of sin and misery, the complicated mix of providence and free will, a long weaving of time never out of Your grasp, but full of our tragic mistakes and misspent foolishness. But there was never a time You felt out of control.
Jesus, our future, our heavenly guide, show us the way to go home. We wish to see You, to be with You. We wish to have nothing but You. Come and get us. Lift us up to You. Your grace is sorely needed in this wayward world. Thank You that Your promises are sure and everlasting and when You say soon, You mean soon, even if we do not understand Your time.
While we wait, may we bring You praise. May we live according to Your will. May we be in full anticipation of what is to come, while completely present to our current circumstances and the places You want us to be. Help us to serve You, serve each other, and know You, eager in knowledge of our place in Your story.
Be all to us, redeeming our past, fulfilling our present, and bringing our future into completion. Let the epilogue of the story that never ends begin. Release us into time that is no time. Further up and further in.
I pray these things in the never-ending and ever-fulfilling name of Jesus, the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last. Amen.
